Title National Archives and the Selection of Memory of the World - National Registers of Taiwan (2017-2022

Abstract From 2017 to 2022, the Bureau of Cultural Heritage (BOCH), Ministry of Culture, has held three times of heritage selection of "Memory of the World - National Registers of Taiwan", hoping to enhance the high vision of Taiwan's documentary assets preservation. The National Archives Administration, National Development Council, holds valuable national archives, which contain important heritage of Taiwan and meet the BOCH selection criteria of value, authenticity, uniqueness, worldliness, integrity, and threat. To participate in the selection, the National Archives Administration has been prepared to select themes, conduct in-depth research, and cooperate with the BOCH to conduct surveys and adjust projects in accordance with the review. Among the national archives, the following have been selected as Taiwan memory: "February 28th Incident and White Terror Records", "Records of the Taiwan Provincial Senate, Taiwan Provincial Provisional Senate, and Taiwan Provincial Assembly and Parliamentary History", "Alishan Forestry and Railway-related Records", "Taiwan Gold and Copper Mining Industry Records" and "Records of the Executive Yuan Sessions during the Republic of China's Discipline and Administration”. This article not only introduces the process of preparing each theme of these archives but also analyzes the contents of the selected archives for future participation.
