“Kinmen Fishermen’s Association archvies” preserved by the National Archives Administration, National Development Council, mainly records the history of the Kinmen Fishermen's Association since its establishment in 1953, including the association’s internal structure, the implementation of various decisions, as well as its functions: developing fisheries, assisting fishermen to access loans, improving production technology, taking care of fishermen's lives, and revitalizing fishing villages. In 1949 during the period of Martial Law, the situation in the Taiwan Strait was very tense, and Kinmen is very close to mainland China; therefore, local fishermen were included in the combat readiness system, and their life and work were restricted. According to the governmental restrication measures, the Kinmen Fishermen’s Association disseminated information about decrees to shape unique battlefield culture. This study sorted out "Kinmen Fisherman's Association archives" and introduced some of the contents to highlight its value in order to arouse the attention of the society to explore Taiwan's fisheries development.
