Introduction to the Public Access to Archives

1.Application for Access to Archives
The Public who intend to read, copy or duplicate an Archive can search the catalogs via the Archives Access Service (A⁺), or come to the Archives Access Center(AAC) located on the first floor of the National Archives Administration(NAA) of the National Development Council to fill in an application form for access to archives. Applicant also may submit application to NAA via mail, fax, email or using a citizen digital certificate to apply via the NAA website.

2.Processing Time
After the application form is correctly filled out and received by the NAA , archives will be delivered to the applicant as soon as possible. If the requested archives are less than the mandated thirty years old, the application will be handled on a case-by-case basis. In principle a response will be issued in fifteen days. In some cases an additional fifteen days may be needed to process the request.

3.Designated Area for Access to Archives
For access to Archives, please come to the AAC with photo ID/documentation to fill out application forms. Applicant must follow the rules and regulations set forth in both the "Directions for Access to Archives" and the "Visitor Rules for the Archives Access Center of the National Archives Administration, National Development Council"

The NAA also provides archives duplicate service by mail. After the application review, the applicant will be notified the review results, access methods and payment. Once the NAA has received payment for the related fees, NAA will mail a receipt and a reproduction of the record. Moreover, if you are the member of the A⁺ and have a citizen digital certificate, you can even utilize A⁺ to complete online application for access to archives, and online browsing.
